Climate Change Makes Southern Europe More Vulnerable to Wildfires, Study Finds

The latest research has shown that climate change is making Southern Europe highly combustible, as there has been an increase in fire-prone days by more than 100 percent in comparison to 1981, especially for France and Spain. The rainfall and lower temperature in the region recently have assisted in bringing under control the record fires in France and Spain, thus enabling thousands of people who had been evacuated to return home. However, the hot weather and strong winds have shifted towards the East.
